"Mothers are bette at criticized"... Did Min Heejin and NewJeans' parents move
May 21st, 2024
The positions of HYBE and ADOR CEO Min Heejin over the background of the parents of the group NewJeans members are sharply conflicting.
On May 17th, the Seoul Central District Court held an interrogation date for a provisional injunction lawsuit filed by CEO Min Heejin against the parent company HYBE.
On this day, HYBE's legal representaive tried to disclose the contents of the messenger conversation exchanged between Min Heejin and her close side, Lee, but it was eventually close because Min Heejin's legal representatives objected to it.
Chosun Biz reported on the 21st that "the contents of the KakaoTalk conversation, which was decided to be closed in court at the time, were related to the "complaint of protest" delivered to HYBE by the parents of NewJeans, a group belonging to ADOR, through ADOR," adding that the opinion was the beginning of the conflict between HYBE and CEO Min Heejin.
NewJeans parents submitted their opinion to ADOR on March 31st, and ADOR delivered to HYBE on April 3rd. The opinion was about another label under HYBE, Belift Lab' new girl group ILLIT.
Chosun Biz also disclosed the contents of the messenger conversation between CEO Min Heejin and Lee. A day before NewJeans parents sent a letter of protest to ADOR, CEO Mjn Heejin said, "I should think about the wording of the messenger," and added, "Mothers need to take full advantage of the fact that they didn't write a contract with HYBE. They ask question such as 'Is there any content with HYBE in the exclusive contract?' and 'Any other provisions to raise objection?'"
Before HYBE began auditing ADOR, CEO Min Heejin said, "It's mothers who report to the Fair Trade Commission. It's not right a subsidiary to report," and adding, "Mothers are better at criticizing. The mothers' reporting itself also reveals their innocence. They also mentioned future plans, such as, 'If a subsidiary reports it, there could be a fight or something like a fraudulent act.'"
HYBE claims that CEO Min Heejin countered that the NewJeans parents only asked for help in writing the opinion, and that the writing and submission of the opinion was entirely the will of the NewJeans parents.
While the contents of messenger conversation, which was closed in court, were released to the media, attention is being paid to how the contents of the conversation will affect the court's judgement.
