 June 25th, 2024

ADOR, the agency of girl group NewJeans, has taken a thorough response to the stabbing notice targeting the members.

On the 25th, ADOR said, "Currently, the company has taken a thorough response to the threat," adding, "In Korea, police are investigating, and we are preparing strengthened safety countermeasures with Japanese performance agencies."

"We are committed to ensuring that the artist can engage in safe activities," they added

Earlier in the 24th, an online community posted a notice of a stabbing against girl group NewJeans, which shocked them.

The author of the article titled "I bought it to use when NewJeans concerts are held" wrote along with a photo of Japanese food, "I want to give it to you when you get out of the car."

In response, fans captured and shared the posts and encouraged them to 'report them together'. Some fans even say that they had reported to the police and the post was immediately deleted.

The photo, which was posted on the threatening post, was a copy of the photo of Japanese e-commerce company Ilsando, and was confirmed to be the same photo as the previous one of stabbing' at a girls' high school was arrested.

It had not confirmed yet whether the author of he NewJeans stabbing notice was actually planning to commit the crime but even if there is no intention to actually inflict harm regardless of whether the crime was actually committed, the crime of intimidation is established if the target is specified. Earlier in August last year, a notice of a stabbing was posted against HYBE, and the police conducted a search.

NewJeans is currently in the midst of their full-fledged Japanese debut activities. As the fan meeting "Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome" is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 26th and 27th, the stabbing notice has raised serious concerns regardless of whether it is true or not. Even though the Tokyo Dome fan meeting was a weekday event, but the tickets were sold out early on both days.

NewJeans is not the only one. Recently there have been a series of threats against girl group members who have been suffering from malicious comments.

In May, group IVE member Jang Wonyoung's agency, Starship Entertainment, said, "Yesterday, a post threatening the personal safety of IVE's Jang Wonyoung, our artist," adding, "The article specifying the date and time of the crime was reported to the National Police Agency, and the National Police Agency launched investigation into the publisher of the post. We asked for a prompt investigation and a request for personal protection of the artist, and we will take legal action as soon as she/he identified."

Aespa member Winter was also threatened. In August last year, a netizen posted on an online community that he would use a weapon to injure Winter. Later, the author deleted the post, but Aespa fans and many netizens reported the information to the police, security was also strengthened in the schedule of the members of Aespa.

Singer IU was also reported to have threatened to kill, and it was belatedly known that the investigate were urgently dispatched to IU's home, including her office building.

Meanwhile, NewJeans' single "Supernatural," which was released on the 21st, has been No. 1 on Japan's Oricon Daily Single ranking for three consecutive days. The title song of the same title has also been No. 1 on Line Music Daily Chart for three consecutive days.
